Breast Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation 2023

Hermosa Beach Mayor Justin Massey & Malibu Dana at last night’s City Council Meeting

Every two minutes a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with the disease. I was one of those women 13 years ago. I am humbled to accept the Proclamation of Breast Cancer Month this 10th day of October in 2023. Everyday I will keep fighting and praying for a cure, but until we find one I will keep advocating for early screening, the patients who need our support, their families and loved ones, and all those impacted by breast cancer.

Thank you Hermosa Beach City Council and Mayor Justin Massey for this important Proclamation and for the annual pink lighting of Hermosa Beach Pier Plaza during breast cancer awareness month. Those pink lights are a reminder that hope is the only thing stronger than fear & that we are all the face of breast cancer. With gratitude for every breath.

Each year in the United States, about 240,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and about 2,100 in men.
